The re-release of Encens Mythique D’Orient must be one of the very few times a perfume’s price has gone down while the quantity has gone up.

I can’t imagine Guerlain dropping their margins for love, though. So, something has to give. But what? I’ve not smelled the new one yet, but have heard that it’s the same, it’s simpler, it’s different, it’s identical, it’s… Oh, who knows.

I’ve not worn this so much lately, but it was a staple the previous winter, and seems to thrive on bundled up skin, glowing warm in cold air. This is the sort of level of rose I do ok with: a rose stirred up in clouds of incense, saffron, and ambergris. And by ok, I mean mmmmmm.

Have you smelled the new version of Encens Mythique or the others from that range? Or been lucky enough to have a favourite reincarnated without a massive change?
